Who is leading the discussion on Sustainable Aviation Fuel?
Our analysis looks at where companies’ reputations stand in the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)
As SAF increasingly plays a key role in discussions surrounding aviation decarbonisation, this report examines both the sentiment around and visibility of SAF over a six-month period. The report considers both producer and airline advocacy and investment in SAF.
Key findings of the report are:
- Several SAF partnerships across the sector drive impactful positivity. The most visible of these is between Airbus and Qantas, with the media praising their intentions to accelerate Australia’s SAF industry.
- SAF gathers significantly high sentiment, gaining not a day of negativity throughout the March to August 2022 period. SAF discussion led the producer and airline sectors to score 57 and 56, respectively.
- Pledges to cut carbon emissions through commitments to SAF made by companies including Qantas, Ryanair, easyJet and Airbus have also led to positive sentiment of +2.
- Boeing, Japan Airlines, British Airways and Emirates are among the highest scoring airlines, earning positive coverage for their pledges to decarbonise.
